In fiscal year 2015 we:
1. Developed a 3-Year Strategic Plan
Together with our Board of Directors we developed and ratified a three-year strategic plan for our chapter that focuses on four key areas that will help us grow:
- Grant every eligible child’s wish
- Raise funds to meet these demands
- Increase Board oversight
- Retain and train our staff
2. Granted a record 370 wishes
Every day of the year a wish is being granted in the Greater Bay Area by our chapter. This is the first time in our chapter’s history that we can claim this.
3. Saw Batkid Begins hit theaters
It all began with the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. From there the film opened the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, won audience awards and was acquired by Warner Bros. Batkid Begins made its nationwide theatrical debut on June 26, 2015 and brought widespread recognition to Make-A-Wish.
4. Focused on wish quality
In FY15 we revamped our wish granting process by adding a unique and magical “wish reveal” step to highlight the moment a child’s wish is formally approved. Our goal was to exceed the child’s expectations and build their excitement leading up to the wish. Parent feedback has confirmed our success, with more than 95% of them rating the wish experience as having exceeded expectations.
