17-year-old Terry (who goes by Tre) lives in Alamo with his mom, stepdad and younger siblings. After tragically losing his father two years ago, Tre has taken on the role of caretaker for his family. This past Christmas, instead of having an upbeat, carefree holiday, Tre spent his time in the hospital, and on Christmas Eve, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Since then Tre has been going through chemotherapy treatments while trying to maintain good grades and continue to help care for the family.
When asked about what his wish was Tre did not hesitate to answer, in a very poised manner, that he wanted to be an Investment Banker. Tre does not only want a wish that will help him for one day, Tre wishes instead to have a wish that help him achieve his goals later in life as well. Tre is a very intelligent and motivated young man.
In addition to his investing, Tre also loves Italian sports cars. Last month, to deliver the initial word that Tre’s wish would be granted, a team of volunteers from the Ferrari Owners Group drove to his home in Alamo in a caravan of Ferraris. Knowing how much he loved the cars, the owners let him look under the hood of each one, climb inside and even take a ride in one.
To properly introduce him to the world of investment banking, Tre will be flown to New York, where he will have a “mini internship” at Goldman Sachs. On his first day in New York, he will go to Yankees Stadium with a group from Goldman who are working on a deal with the team. Then on Tuesday, Tre will be ringing the bell on the New York Stock Exchange before spending time at another investment bank, BlackRock. On Thursday, Tre will get to experience the public facing side of the business while spending a half day at CNBC.
