Bryan's wish unfolded as a virtual world experience giving rise to a real world one. It started with his love of World of Tanks, an online game that allows players to recreate historically based tank battles with others. But Bryan's fondest hope was to see these tanks up close at Tankfest, an annual event at the Tank Museum in Dorchester, England. He wasn’t sure if that was asking too much. The volunteers who interviewed him, Make-A-Wish veterans Cathleen and Katherine, reassured him that it was a fantastic idea and set out right away to help make it happen.
Bryan had experienced a lot of virtual battles with World of Tanks, but personally had battled a brain tumor that cost him his left eye. Even still, he continues to play ice hockey, is learning to drive and is a Naval Sea Cadet. In June, on his family's first ever visit to England, Bryan spent two days attending Tankfest.
Because of volunteers, donors and friends like you, he even got to ride in an IKV 91 tank
, and saw Fury, the same tank that was used in his favorite movie of the same name! Thank you to every donor, volunteer and medical partner who helped give Bryan an experience that left him "grinning from ear to ear," according to his mom, Juliet.
