Office Volunteers help with administrative tasks at the Make-A-Wish office. By assisting the staff with administrative tasks, the staff can focus more on planning wishes and raising money to fund those wishes.
Office volunteers assist staff members with tasks related to data entry, filing, making phone calls, keeping records updated, volunteer recruitment and screening, and more. Office volunteers typically commit to a weekly schedule of about 3-4 hours per week, on a weekly basis. For most office volunteer positions, we ask for a minimum six-month commitment. Office volunteers help at the Make-A-Wish office in downtown San Francisco, and must be available during our regular office hours (9am-5pm M-F).
Volunteer Recruitment Assistant
The Volunteer Department at Make-A-Wish is looking for a volunteer who can help with some of the clerical duties around volunteer recruitment. The Volunteer Department Assistant will work closely with the Volunteer Manager, who will directly train and manage the volunteer.
- Writing back to volunteers who have expressed interest in volunteering
- Maintaining Make-A-Wish postings on volunteer websites, such as local volunteer centers and VolunteerMatch
- Scheduling volunteers for volunteer orientations
Schedule and Location
We are looking for a volunteer who can help 3-4 hours per week, on a regular, weekly basis. The day of the week is flexible, but the shift must be done during our office hours – 9am-5pm M-F. We can mutually decide what shift time works with your schedule (e.g. Monday 2-5pm, Wednesday, 10am-1pm, or whatever works best with your schedule). We also require that the volunteer be willing to agree to a minimum six-month commitment. All the office work will be done at the Make-A-Wish office. Our office is currently in San Francisco, though will be moving to Oakland in July.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Spreadsheets
- Must be comfortable with the internet and Microsoft Outlook email
- Meticulous and detail-oriented.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
