Congratulations and THANK YOU for raising crucial funds for wishes!
It was an inspiring morning, as over 240 walkers (including 8 wish families), gathered to celebrate the power of a wish. We are thrilled to announce that over $67,046 in cash contributions (and counting!) was raised as a result of your efforts, enough to grant eight wishes!
We loved seeing your team t-shirts, face paintings and balloon animals, and watching you walk and run alongside awesome vintage race cars! Most importantly, we loved knowing that each of you were there for the same special purpose: making wishes come true.
At this time, we encourage you to:
- Give yourself, and your teammates, a big pat on the back for achieving stellar results!
- Visit our partner LUV Footwear (one of Saturday’s booth hosts) to make a purchase using the promo code walkforwishes, valid through June 30th. When you do, $5/pair of adorable shoes benefits Make-A-Wish!
- Consider matching your Walk for Wishes contribution through your company (while most employers match gifts dollar for dollar, some even double, triple or quadruple the donation – check with your HR Department for details).
Thanks to your support, wishes will continue to come true for children like Brody. In February 2012, Brody, not yet two, was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. He immediately started a four month course of treatment that his mom calls “cancer hell.” Despite being “bald as bald can be” says his mom, he was “happier than most with hair” and celebrated his 2nd birthday at the hospital with an Elmo cake. On the one-year anniversary of being cancer-free, he will meet Elmo at Sesame Place in Pennsylvania, and he asks about his wish trip “every day.”
